We’ve all heard the “midwest is more than corn,” but really? One drive across I-80 and you might be scratching your head. However, we want to bring you a bit more south where the terrain takes a different shape, where towering trees fill the skyscape like giant green dandelions, and unexpected rock formations keep you mesmerized. Take a trip with us as we explore the charming and geological haven of the top ten adventures in the Missouri Ozarks!

#1 Branson Mountain Coaster and Ziplines

Nestled into the gorgeous woods, the Runaway at Branson Mountain Adventure Park boasts the longest and fastest alpine mountain coasters! If that’s not enough zinging for you, the park’s newest addition Flyaway Quad Racing Zip Line is sure to please! The adventure park is open year-round and locals rave that this is a family adventure place to try during the day and at night!

To partake in these epic experiences, one must be willing to sign an agreement. Be prepared as riders of the coaster must be at least nine years old and 52″ tall to ride solo, or at least three years old and 36″ tall to ride double with someone at least 16 years of age or older. The max weight is 300 pounds.

The cost of the coaster adventure ranges from $16-$26 and zip line tickets cost around $15. Or a fly and ride ticket combo will run you about $30. Locals, visitors, families, and adventure seekers love this place and rave it is one not to miss out!

#2 Top of the Rock Golf Course

The Top of the Rock Golf Course is located on breathtaking property above Top of the Rock in Ridgedale, MO. IItslandscape is combined with man-made and natural landscaping that sits next to a magnificent 150-year-old barn filled with historic memorabilia. This is a 9-hole, 3-par course is the home of a few notable championships. The reviews vary noting the price, however, if you come prepared, this course has excellent amenities such as a restaurant and pro shop, it will be well worth your time.

Depending on the time of year you set up your tee time, look to spend between $80-$135 per person for 9-holes. Replays available at a discounted rate, and club rentals will run about $65.

#3 Bridal Cave

No, the Bridal Cave isn’t where you get married – well, unless you wanted to (seriously, you can book your wedding here)! Bridal Cave is a geological wonder located in Camden County near Camdenton, Missouri. The name was derived from an Osage Native American legend of Conwee, who was the chief’s son. He was in love with the daughter of the opposing tribe, and as legend has it, he kidnapped her!

Bridal cave is a tourist attraction that is guided by a tour guide year-round. The website notes that this is a family-friendly attraction, but previous guests have said that the guides stop quite often to tell about the geological and historical stories along the way that it may not be fun for those under six years old. The cave is also cold and damp so unless you are apt to being cold, be sure to bring layers to enjoy the tour!

The hours vary throughout the year and prices are $20 for those 13 years of age and older, $10 for those 5-12, and free for children 4 and under.

#4 Ozarks Skydiving Center in Miller, MO

What adventure list would be complete without the most thrilling adventure of them all – skydiving! Ozarks Skydiving Center is a husband and wife owned operation that focuses on excellent customer service. Located in Miller, Missouri, guests can expect to fall from a plane by doing a tandem skydive (meaning you’re harnessed to an experienced instructor). Those who wish to jump must be 18 years of age or older and not weigh more than 230 pounds.

Guests rave how professional the team is at Ozarks Skydiving Center, and that there is a lovely restaurant to wait or celebrate your first jump called the Hangar Kafe. Some have even said it’s cured their fear of heights! We’ll let you be the judge!

Skydiving is not a cheap sport due to the cost of safety, running airplanes and parachute equipment — but rightly so! Guests can prepare to spend around $200 for their first jump, and around $90 for the priceless video and picture package.

#5 Circus Harmony in St. Louis, MO

Ok – raise your hand if you ever (or even secretly) wanted to run away and join the circus? We’re guessing most of you if you’re reading this adventure list! If you’re visiting the Ozarks (or even if you’re a local), then visiting the Circus Harmony in St. Louis is a must!

The Circus Harmony mission – straight from their site – “is a non-profit social circus organization that uses circus arts to motivate social change. By inspiring individuals and connecting communities with our circus education and entertainment programs, we have a positive impact on the St. Louis area and beyond.”

They have shows, programs, and classes where you can participate from preschool age and up. Those who’ve joined the Circus Harmony (whether themselves or their kids) say the instructors are passionate and good at what they do, and they all have the time of their lives.

#6 Ha Ha Tonka State Park

Located an easy 1-hour drive north of the Ozarks, this beautiful State Park is one raved, not to miss! Ha Ha Tonka State Park overlooks Lake Ozarks features the intriguing history and a ‘geological wonderland featuring sinkholes, caves, a natural bridge, sheer bluffs, and a large spring.’ Not only is the nature stunning, but there is also a stone castle that sits on the property giving the land a majestic feeling.

Visitors may enjoy the many trails, picnic sites, fishing, swimming, rope swinging, camping, caving or even boating on nearly 4,000 acres of state land. Those who have been here rave about the stunning scenery, and how fun it was to explore the area.

#7 Ozarks Heritage Preserve

Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum The museum will run adults $12 and children ages 4-11 $5 (under age 3 is free). The gallery showcases prehistoric creatures, American West, and collections of Native American artifacts.

Cathedral of Nature is an opening from a sinkhole at the Top of the Rock Ozark Heritage and in May 2015, natural treasures were discovered – an impressive cave system!

#8 Butterfly Palace and Rainforest Adventure

The Butterfly Palace is a place of wonder for all ages, and will literally inspire the child within and spark joy amongst the children. The Palace and Rainforest Adventure are located in Branson, MO and their efforts go towards supporting butterfly farmers in the rainforest who supply their pupae and use their profits to buy rainforest land to protect the butterflies and the rainforest as well as jobs for indigenous people.

The palace has a Butterfly Aviary, Banyan Tree Adventure, Mirror Maze, Science Center and a 3D film to explore! Previous guests will say that a few hours isn’t enough time to explore the entire center and if you can budget the time to take advantage, the passes are good up to three days!

The center has affordable prices for $20 for adults, $13 for children ages 4-12 (free for those ages 3 and under), and Senior Rates for 55+ for $18. All prices do not include tax, and if you book online, you can save $1 on adult and children’s tickets.

#9 Fritz’s Adventure

We’re just going to say it like it is. This. Place. Is. AWESOME!!! If you have time for nothing else, or the weather isn’t nice to play outdoors – then Fritz’s Adventure is your one-stop fun for all ages! Fly. Climb. Indoor Skydiving. Jump. Ride. Slide. Zip and more in their 80,000 square foot facility located in Branson, MO.

Guests are sure to rave about this place but will forewarn you that kids under 10 will not be able to ride all the rides, and parents not partaking in activities will still need to pay admission. Kids ages 4-11 will run you about $22, ages 12-54 will run about $30 and seniors $15. You can save $5 a ticket if tickets are purchased online. Be sure to plan on spending the entire day, and check out the calendar for hours and upcoming events!

#10 Wonders Of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium

The Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium in Springfield, Missouri, is a remarkable attraction that combines a museum and aquarium to showcase the beauty and diversity of the natural world.
